Sergeant Major Campbell, a Coast Guard brat (grew up all over the US), enlisted in the delayed entry program in March 1978 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO in September 1978. He graduated in December 1978 as a US Army Combat Engineer. His career spanned 24 years with 3 tours in Germany and a tour in South Korea. He participated in combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2001-2002) as the Plans and Operations Sergeant Major for C7 of the Coalition Forces Land Component Command/Army Central Command/3rd US Army. He also contracted for and led a Coalition Demining Team to clear land mines in both Bagram and Kandahar Airbases in Afghanistan. Sergeant Major Campbell is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 50. Other schools include the Primary, Basic and Advanced NCO Courses, Drill Instructors Course, Master Fitness Trainers Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, First Sergeant Course and the Foreign Disclosure Officer Course. Sergeant Major Campbell retired from Active Duty on October 1, 2002. He was hired by a small Engineering Firm in November of 2002 as a Resident Construction Engineer. During his 19 years at the firm, he served as the Resident Engineer on numerous Construction Projects. He retired for good in July 2022. He and his wife Lynn moved to Tellico Village in May 2022.
Sergeant Major Campbell holds an Associate in Applied Science Administrative/Management Studies from Regents College/Excelsior University, and a Bachelor of Science Information Technology-Computer Systems from American Intercontinental University (Summa Cum Laude). He took over as Adjutant of Post 12135 in November 2023 and is a Life Member of the VFW.
